The first novel written by George Perec (its manuscript has been considered lost) forestalls and casts a new light on everything produced by him afterwards. The main collision of «The Condottiere» develops in the psychological detective genre: virtuoso craftsman dreams to become a true creator, to conquer time, to rewrite history. The process of freeing from this obsession becomes the plot of the novel.
