The Tale of Tales, or Entertainment for Little Ones

 

The collection of fairy tales gathered by a courtier and soldier to various Italian princes includes the oldest recorded form of many well-known (and more obscure) European fairy tales. Basile (1566–1632) was the first to introduce the famous tales about Cinderella, Sleeping beauty, Puss in Boots and influenced all the main storytellers.
