The Diary of 1934.

 

The author of this diary, Mikhait A. Kuzmin -- poet, playwright, musician etc.-- was one of the most brilliant representatives of the "Silver age" of Russian Culture. For many years Kuzmin was engaged in the stormy literary life of the most bizarre epoch of Russian Culture and History. He was an inhabitant of the famous "Tower" of Viacheslav lvanov, an habitue of the cabaret "The Wandering Dog" etc. All his life Kuzmin had written his diary, commenting on literature, sexuality and politics. Being a pioneer of Russian gay fiction, Kuzmin devoted many pages of his diary to the Petersburgian gay community of fin de siecle. The text published by Ivan Limbach Publ. House is the notes made by Kuzmin in 1934.The preparation of this document for publication was executed by Gleb Morev, a wellknown specialist in Kuzmin's life and works.
