This novel by Magnus Florin is the alloy of document and fantasy. Its
protagonist, Carolus Linnaeus, is more than far from his actual prototype,
although the narration often refers to the facts of the worldwide known
scientist’s biography.
The subject of the novel is the Man facing Nature. Who
is he? The creator, the inspired improvisator or the author of the System
coveting to swallow all that is alive?
Magnus Florin is the laureate of the
Swedish Academy Prize (2001).
