Lev Losev (1937-2009) was born in Leningrad, graduated from the Leningrad State university, in 1976 emigrated to the United States and taught Russian literature at Dartmouth College (New Hampshire). He began publishing poetry in 1979, first in the emigré periodicals, and from 1988 in Russia. In his work Losev is prone to intellectual game, his poems are full of allusions to Russian literature of all time, metaphysical meditations coexist with the present-day concern, cosmic sadness neighbors pun.
