The main theme of the novel and stories written by one of the most prominent Lithuanian prose writers, Jurgis Kuncinas, is a commonness of Soviet epoch outcasts, their tragicomic escape from reality. The author in a soft and ironical manner narrates about individual beings who are not blending with the system, and who are able to save inner autonomy and humane dignity in any circumstances.
The novel “Tūla” was recognized as the best Lithuanian book in 1993 year, and honoured with Lithuanian Writers Union Award.
J. Kuncinas’s works are translated into Lettish, German, Polish, Russian, French, Swedish, Estonian and other languages.
