Ksenia Levashova-Stunkel (1886-1961) studied painting in the workshop of Ilya Mashkov, took lessons from Alexander Kuprin, for many years she was friends and corresponded with Vasily Masyutin. But her memoirs mainly cover the private life of a Moscow family and contain the most valuable material on the history of everyday life of the early twentieth century: home life, gymnasium, balls, festive festivities, city life. Higher Women's courses, the birth of the Art Theater, lectures by Ivan Tsvetaev also come into view. Deep self-reflection combined with the immediacy of experiences, the accuracy of historical details and the artlessness of writing give the artist's memoirs a special charm.
