Georgy Georgievich Demidov (1908-1987) — physicist, Landau student, prisoner of the Kolyma camps, an outstanding Russian writer, author of short stories and novels about the life of GULAG prisoners.
In the publishing program of the GULAG History Museum and the Memory Foundation, together with the Ivan Limbach Publishers, with the participation of the V.I. Dahl Museum of the History of Russian Literature and the "Vozvrascheniye" publishing house, a collection of works is published George Demidov in 6 volumes.
The 4th volume presents the autobiographical novel "From Dawn to Dusk" (Book One). Unfortunately, it remained unfinished. In the center of the story is the family of the worker Yegor Putintsev, forced to move from St. Petersburg to Ukraine, experiencing the events of the First World War and the Civil War.
This is a historical testimony about the life and way of life of the peasantry of the western provinces Russia at the tragic breakdown of epochs, written on behalf of a little boy Dimka Putintseva. The 4th volume also includes previously unpublished materials of the personal account file of the exiled Georgy Demidov, testifying to the writer's life in exile in the Komi ASSR.
